The Medical Camps Foundation takes the mobile clinic into use

After years of preparation, finding sponsors, lobbying and many setbacks the time has finally come: The Medical Camps Foundation has taken a brandnew, custom-made mobile clinic into use.

In February, a team consisting of two drivers, the project leader and a mechanic travelled to New Delhi to pick up the clinic. After a two-day course about the use of the clinic, the team drove the mobile to our city, a journey of over two thousand kilometres. The new clinic arrived four days later in Tiruvannamalai. It is officially inaugurated on March 9th by the governor of Tamil Nadu amid great public interest and with a lot of publicity.

The inside of the clinic was built in a large container, and was placed on the frame of a truck. Now the medical team can reach all the villages quickly and can get to work immediately. The clinic was custom-made for the foundation. The clinic consists of two separate areas: one for the doctor and one for the pharmacist and the nurses. This way, the team can treat several patients at the same time.

The bus is equipped with a generator, fridge for medications and vaccines, air conditioning, a water tank and audio visual equipment. Thanks to these modern facilities, the medical team can provide health care of high quality. Because a lot of time is saved, it is even possible to visit several villages and give medical care to hundreds of people in one day.

The audiovisual equipment is very useful to give education about AIDS, hygiene, tuberculosis, malaria and healthy nutrition. The foundation also organize monthly specialistic camps like eye and dental camps.

The mobile clinic was realized with the support of our many sponsors. Thanks to them, the medical team is now able to offer decent health care in even the most remote areas.
